PRMC Receives Eliminating Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia Award
Palmdale Regional Medical Center has been selected to receive an award from the ‘National Awards to Recognize Achievements in Eliminating Healthcare-Associated Infections', sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, Office of Healthcare Quality and the Critical Care Societies Collaborative, composed of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Palmdale Regional will receive a "Sustained Improvement Award for Achievements in Eliminating Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia".
This award indicates that out of 325 Intensive Care Units (ICUs) located in hospitals of Palmdale Regional Medical Center's size, PRMC uses ventilators 75 percent more than other ICUs. In addition, Palmdale Regional scored better than 90 percent of the other facilities in preventing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonias.
